Glenda Smith Walters has written numerous articles for DirectPathways, The Dispatch (once owned by the New York Times) and has written her own column for The Thomasville Times. Glenda is a graduate of American Business and Fashion, Institute of Charlotte, North Carolina. Much later in life she became interested in writing, and took classes at Salem Academy and College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Her prior career dealt with product development within the realm of high-end furniture. While on location, she worked on a project with Clint Eastwood. After a career that spanned over fifteen years within the furniture industry, Glenda decided to go in another direction… one of service to others.

As an active volunteer with Hospice of Davidson County, she was offered a position as a Volunteer Coordinator. With many of the Hospice patients having spiritual experiences (and with their permission), she decided to record these exciting events. Hospice volunteers, family members and friends, as well as the author’s own experiences, were included within the pages of This Place That I Go…

While at Hospice, Glenda started a “Lending Library,” with the sole purpose of helping the terminally ill overcome their fear of death, along with giving their families a sense of peace. She went on to become the Director of Fund Development & Community Relations for Hospice of Davidson County. Her life came full circle through her past contacts within the furniture industry. These same contacts, along with volunteers and the community, aided her in helping her to raise funds for Hospice of Davidson County’s new Henry Etta and Bruce Hinkle Hospice House.

She has contracted work through the administrative offices of Old Salem Museums and Gardens, and has held the title of Sales Director for the Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce. She currently works for another Hospice care organization. She continues to write articles on travel and human interest stories in her spare time.
